Litochoro, Pieria prefecture
The climbing sector of Litochoro addresses to quite experienced climbers as its general grade of difficulty is very high. It is worth mentioning that its easiest route is a 6c. The overhang and the tufas are the domineering characteristics of the sector. All the routes are of sportive character and they are all equipped with bolds and anchors. During the summer, it is suitable for climbing in the afternoon (later than 1400-1500). During the winter, and especially after a long period of raining, the tufas are very wet and thay take quite a long time to get dry again.
Access
While driving from Thessaloniki to Athens you turn in the exit towards Litochoro. By the time you enter Litochoro you continue upawards until you see on your right the police department of Litochoro (a short before the central square of the village). You turn there and after 100m you will see on your left an old machine-shop right before the bridge. If you park there, the climbing sector is exactly in front of you. To reach the sector, you will need to walk until the end of the bridge and then you turn left. You can follow the path, which is an upway in its beginning but later it descents to the climbing sector. In total, you will need to walk for only about 5min.
