Pyli

Climbing in Pyli, Trikala

The climbing area of Pyli is the first crag equipped with routes early in 1994. This need was created bythe fact that the only routes for climbing in the area of Trikala until then were the rocks of Meteora. Although the routes in Meteora are high and with big variety there is the lack of difficult grades. This need led the climbers of Trikala in search of possible areas with limestone to equip sport climbing routes. One of the first places to search was the village of Pyli and the result was more than impressive. Pyli consists of 5 main sectors extendable up to 10, which gives the prospect of opening up to 350 routes. All sectors are easily accessible (5-20 minutes walking). There is no organized camping in the area thus the camping is allowed freely as long as people respect the environment.

The access end approach is visible from the map in the tabs below
